After working in the New York office, Jim Hurlock led the Brussels, Paris and London offices. In 1980, he became president of White & Case. During his 20 years in this position, he significantly expanded White & Case`s presence around the world and was one of the main supporters of this scholarship created by Rosine Lorotte in 1995. As one of the recipients of the Princeton Pyne Prize and the Oxford Rhodes Scholarship, he was convinced of the importance for an international law firm « to be able to rely on lawyers trained under various international laws and willing to advise clients on cross-border transactions ». She agrees: « As someone who works in arbitration, the firm`s international roots shape our daily professional lives. Every time we collaborate with other law firms on a case, you experience the practice of law through the eyes of another. I think we can learn a lot from different judicial systems. » 3. At the end of the 2nd round, the 3/4 selected teams will be invited to participate in the grand final in the Paris offices of White & Case. Each of them will have three hours to analyse a new practical case study submitted on site and present their answers orally to the jury, which will then select and reward the winning team. All applications are reviewed on behalf of our Internship Committee, which includes the partner responsible for the internship program as well as representatives from various practices in our office. Shortlisted applications received online will be forwarded to the firms for which the candidates have applied. Each firm decides whether or not to invite shortlisted candidates for a single interview, and then selects those who receive an internship offer.

It was the most valuable experience I had during my studies, both from a legal and human point of view. This allowed me to better understand the profession of corporate lawyer. Students are asked to examine case studies related to complex legal situations that may arise in professional business law practice and propose solutions to be defended before a jury of leading academics and practitioners, including white lawyers and lawyers.
